Midweek Motivation – When Weight Loss Becomes Easy

When I was asked the other day how I’d managed to maintain my weight for such a long time I remembered what one of my teachers once said to me, “easy comes with experience”.

At the time I had no real idea what she meant, and all of a sudden it made sense.

I realized that my weight is no longer an issue for me.  I don’t worry about what I eat, or when.  Somehow I’d managed to get balanced eating so much into my unconscious that I didn’t even think about it any more.

And then I remembered another thing that my teacher had followed up with, “you don’t have the luxury of finding things easy without the benefit of learning and experience. And you don’t learn without getting feedback”.

On my journey to this point of weight freedom I’d had to try out a lot of stuff that didn’t work before I found the thing that did – changing my mind set around weight through action and belief change (using hypnosis and other ideas, some of which I’ve shared with you in these emails).

So this week I urge you to remember how far you’ve come on your own journey. You may not be completely there yet, but easy really DOES come with experience.  So stick with what works for you, whatever it is.  Truly believe that this can, and will, work for you.  And most importantly remember that you can only reach success through learning, feedback, and experience.

Sending you heaps and mountains of happy and effective learnings for the week.

Midweek Motivation – Can You Hear The Voices?

Do you ever listen to yourself talking?
Your mission this week, if you choose to accept it ;-) is to start really listening to your own voice.  There is a purpose I promise you!  And believe me, it’s  much harder than it sounds.

Start by listening to yourself when you talk to other people.
What do you say?
Are the words positive or negative?
What sound does it have?
Are you always the talker, or the  listener?

Once you start training yourself to hear, start paying more attention to your internal voice.   For most people this is critical, nasty, negative and unsupportive.

And yet, when you start paying real attention….is the internal voice you hear yours…..or someone else’s?  So often we hear our mother, our father, our sibling, our first grade teacher, our sports coach or someone else who has played an important part in helping us establish we are unworthy in some way.

And yet, are you really unworthy? I challenge you to listen for your own TRUE voice.   How do you know when it’s the real thing?  Because when you feel your own voice you are able to relax and become the person your truly want to be.

Why limit yourself to other people’s limited version and interpretation of who you are, often from many years ago? You are so much more, and deep down, you need to know and accept that.

So stake a claim, and take back your own voice, your own words and your own version of yourself….the one you really really want to be.

Sending you love and light this week.

Elizabeth

Midweek Motivation – Direct From The Mouth of A Seven Year Old

As you can imagine, my children are quite used to tapping into the power of their unconscious minds, even if they have no real idea how or why.

So I thought I ought to share a note I found on my iPad when my seven year old, Eve, borrowed it the other day.  I loved how she could say in a few lines, what I struggle to say in hundreds!  So here it is, exactly as she wrote it.

The best way to RELAX
Rest your head make yourself floppy and just relax your body.
Shut your eyes think of a wish that you want to come true.
Make sure you’re in it and then watch that dream until it’s finished
Go back, watch it again and make sure you put every single bit in that you wanted.  Add more details if you’ve missed them.
When it’s finished, see how you’re feeling
If you’ve finished add anything else until it’s perfect or move on to your next dream.

Are you going to tell her you’re not going to take notice of her?  Or shall I?!

Sending you love, light and perfect relaxing dreams this week!

Midweek Motivation – Which Type of Loser Are You?

I’m frequently asked which of my hypnotherapy weight loss tracks is the best, whether the paid ones are better than the free ones, or indeed which would I recommend people buy first.  Now whether you buy one of my tracks or not is irrelevant, but using the information I share next is important regardless!

The first thing to ask yourself is which behavior   you most want to get rid of. Simple and effective, but important and truthful!

Do you most want to get motivated to exercise, cut down on portions or crack your emotional eating for example?

In general I find that clients wanting to change their weight fall into two categories:
- The first just need to re-educate themselves about food and eating.  For example they often eat too much because they can, don’t exercise because they can’t get motivated or always have a drink after work because their colleagues do
- The second category need to address underlying emotional issues.  They eat because they’re bored, stressed, upset or angry about something else that they aren’t expressing

There is no right or wrong answer, but you need to contemplate your category of loser before deciding how best to respond to your situation.  Have you just fallen into bad habits, or are you using food in order to hide some emotional pain you’re going through?

Once you’ve decided this you’re much more able to decide how best to proceed with addressing your weight issues.  Personal hypnotherapy sessions, a certain mp3 recording, a weight loss group, calorie counting, a personal fitness instructor? There’s no one way, but working on your main aim will help, as indeed I hope this does!

And if you’re still in doubt, or indeed looking for an all in one solution make sure you open the next email from me….it’ll contain a very special offer :-)

Until next week, keep the focus.

Midweek Motivation – How to Read Your Mind

Weight Loss MindsetYou may remember that two weeks ago I talked about the importance and power of beliefs, and asked you to consider whether the views you held demotivated or supported you. (Link here in case you missed it)

Then last week I took this one step further and reminded you that you’re your own best hypnotist, even if you didn’t know it until that moment! (Link here)

These principle are valuable on their own, and even more valuable when put together.

The fact is, whether you like it or not, your beliefs and your ability to tap into the unconscious mind to change things you don’t like doesn’t have to be about listening to my hypnosis tracks, watching a pocket watch being swung by a therapist or lying still and relaxing on a couch.  No, in fact hypnosis is occurring all the time, and you control it.

The state of relaxation (or hypnosis if you prefer) which best enables change, is accessible to us all, in so many different ways.  So whether it be listening to music, dancing, meditating, exercising in the gym, walking the dog, praying, listening to a hypnosis track or even just staring into space for a while, allow it to happen and let those deepest, truthful and well meaning insights from your heart and unconscious to shift, move and bubble to the surface….and then evaluate them for their usefulness and application.

These ‘bubbling up’ beliefs, often called intuition or instinct, are the important ones.  Which one will you choose, the positive beliefs that you can accept and work towards to create a better future for yourself, or the negative ones that hold you back and stop you from being the very best that you possibly can?

So stop the rot.  Recognize how, where and when you are hypnotizing yourself and empower yourself to build on your beliefs that support you.  In other words, start reading your own mind and trusting your instincts, that’s what it’s there for.

Here’s to a beneficial belief week!

Midweek Motivation – The World’s Best Hypnotherapist

The world’s best hypnotherapist?…

You listen to their every word
You take notice of everything they say
You believe what they tell you
You do whatever they suggest

The world’s best hypnotherapist?  It’s YOU!

The fact is, you’ve been hypnotizing yourself since the moment you were born.  It’s just that sometimes you’ve heard other people’s voices and instructions (whether real or in your own head) and believe them to be true, especially if they’re negative.

On our journey called life we experience, interpret and then draw conclusions about what things mean.  Unfortunately we’re more inclined to make these conclusions in a way that puts us down, or gives us a negative view on life than forming a belief which is supportive and helpful to us.

Don’t believe me?  How often have you heard statements such as
“Clear your plate”
“Don’t waste that, there are people starving in other countries”
” Eat up, I made it for you especially”
Probably familiar in some way, shape or form.

And what about more personal statements such as
“You’re fat and worthless”
“I don’t know why you’re bothering anyway, that diet will never work”
“Start tomorrow”

The big difference between these two sets of statements is that the first are often well intentioned, if a little misguided.  The latter are personal and generally offensive….and I’m guessing you often say them to yourself.

Hypnosis is like your perfect sports car;  beautiful, extremely powerful and gets you where you want to go with style, grace and admiration….but you do need to know how to drive it.

Your brain is the same…..so treat it with the care, respect and love that it deserves, and ensure that you learn to drive it in a way that serves, rather than demoralizes you.

Wishing a week full of healthy hypnosis (and listen to my tracks if you struggle to do it on your own!)

Midweek Motivation – Is Your Life An Adventure, or a Disaster Movie?

Apologies for this being a little later than usual, I’ve been packing.

Tomorrow at very early o’clock I set off for an adventure.  I’m off to do some training with one of the great masters of hypnotherapy, Stephen Gilligan PhD.

You may wonder, as an already qualified therapist, why I’d want to spend more time and money learning even more ‘stuff’ when I don’t even get to meet so many of the thousands of people who already buy and use my products.

The main reason is that I hold the belief that there is always more to learn, especially from people with vast amounts of experience compared to me (Stephen’s been doing this stuff since the 1970s!).

So it got me wondering, what beliefs do you hold about learning?  Is it pointless?  Worthwhile?  A necessary evil to get through life?  A way to explore different, and potentially new ideas?

And in the same way, what beliefs and learning have you made about you changing your weight?  Are you stuck?  Think you’re on an impossible task?  Gradually making small and steady progress?  Made giant changes and seeing the results? Wondering what to do next?

This week I invite you to consider exploring what beliefs you already have, and which ones serve you. Make a note of anything that springs to mind.

Intrigued?  Well more on this topic next week, and indeed many new insights to share with you from my training I’m sure.

Until next time, enjoy each adventure of a day, and pay some attention to your thoughts and beliefs about learning, and your weight.

Elizabeth

Midweek Motivation – What Will It Take For You To Change?

As a follow on from last week (obviously having hit a chord with many people) I have some questions for you to help bring about some changes in your life.

Most if us in our lives have, at some stage, had to make an incredibly important and life changing decision.  Maybe it was about changing jobs, leaving a partner, having a child, moving house or getting married  for example.

But what was your biggest life changing moment?

Think about it for a minute or two, then consider the following questions
What made you absolutely decide to make that change?
How did the decision effect you?
What good things happened as a result?
What bad things happened as a result?

And now, go a few weeks into the future, say to the middle of next month.

Imagine not having changed your eating behaviour, and continuing your health and eating patterns as you currently are.  Ask yourself the same questions;
How did the decision effect you?
What good things happened as a result?
What bad things happened as a result?

And now consider the opposite, still a few weeks in the future but this time having changed, and improved your eating behaviour (maybe by having listened to your hypnotherapy  ;-)
What made you absolutely decide to make that change?
How did the decision effect you?
What good things happened as a result?
What bad things happened as a result?

So which ‘future you’ do you prefer?  The choice is yours, and entirely yours.  Choose carefully, choose wisely, and most importantly, choose the one you really want.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead,
Elizabeth

P.S. and of course, these questions can be used for any challenging situation you’re facing.  Going ‘into the future’ in your head first can help guide your decisions and make tough times easier to respond to.

Midweek Motivation – Predictions for Your Future

1 + 1 = 2
2 + 2 = 4
8 + 8 = 16

So far so good?!

You Past + You Present = You Future

Right?

Wrong.

You future = Whatever You Want It To Be.

Simply put, you are the sum total of what you think, not what has happened to you in the past, the present or the future.

Let go of the past.

Let go of the present.

Consider the concept that the future is whatever you want it to be. No exceptions, no excuses, no explanations.  It’s YOUR life, make it the best it possibly can be….and let your perfect size and shape just be a reflection of the inner perfection that you truly are.

Phew – that was a deep concept for midweek wasn’t it!  Easier next week I promise ;-)

Sending you love and light wherever you are in the world,

Elizabeth
